**Close up shows some surface roots, this happens when a columnar cactus falls over on its side and it attempts to root like a "log". When we propagate our columnar cacti, we lay them on their sides and allow to dry. Sometimes they stay like this for over a month and rooting and some discoloration can occur. Once upright, the surface roots stop and all new growth shows nicely.
Grown in full hot sun, will darken up w more shade.
